Congratulations to Liz Milward, accomplished local photographer and Kings Park Photo Club member, on taking First Prize in the annual LI Museum Juried Art Show “Wanderlust.” Outstanding Liz!

Liz’s photo “All Aboard”, was taken on the Strasburg Railroad in Pennsylvania.  The two women were in period garb looking out the back of the train, reminiscing on where they have been and dreaming of where they are headed: Pure wanderlust!  (More of Liz’s work can be viewed at NicestlightPhotography.com.)

Prizes were awarded at a reception for 74 finalist artists and the general public at the Museum in Stony Brook on Friday evening, April 20, 2018.  The Juried Art show was a mixed media competition; photographs, paintings, and sculptures were entered.

In awarding First Prize in the competition, the judge said, “This photograph tells the story of wanderlust, the desire to journey.  The composition of the two figures facing the tracks into the misty distance is very strong and quite moving.  Excellent monochromatic layering and use of photographic techniques makes it worthy of first prize, and exemplifies the theme of the exhibition.”

The “Wanderlust” exhibition will be on display at the Long Island Museum from April 20 through June 3, 2018.

Great work Liz, we are all proud of you!
